There were quite a few changes for the match with Club captain James Barker out injured and Vice-Captain Luke Saywell away in Rome for the 6N match and another very important event (congratulations on your engagement!).
Conditions weren't great and the first half was scrappy with very few visits to either 22 as the teams sized each other up. Despite the final scoreline, the first half was a close affair with Southwell going in at half-time leading 12-0 after tries from captain George Machin and a debut score from winger Ed Farnsworth.
The team regrouped in the second half and it certainly did the trick as the team found their rhythm with 40 unanswered points to complete a 52-0 victory. Scorers included Ned Davis (making his first start at 10), Tom Hinchley and a host of others in fairly regular succession.
A great return to winning ways and showing some strength in depth in the Southwell senior squad.
There was a lively atmosphere in the clubhouse with both 6 Nations matches being shown on the big screens too.
Both the 1st and 2nd teams regroup for training this week with a double away fixture at Matlock planned and a trip on the team bus.
