

Skipper Luke Brafields troops travelled with the 1st XV for a tough league match at Matlock and despite a valiant performance were outgunned by the Derbyshire side who as ever remain very tough opposition at home.
With several changes throughout the team the Redmen never got into second gear and it was late in the second half when Southwell did finally begin to dominate possession but it was always going to be difficult playing catch up and despite a try from young prop forward Connor Pearson which was converted by James Barker from far out on the wing, the Redmen couldn't find that groove of recent weeks eventually suffering their worst defeat of the season so far.
