Southwell U13 vs Ilkeston U13 - Sunday 16th April

Final Score - Southwell U13 5 - lots Ilkeston U13

We were expecting a difficult game this morning as we knew that Ilkeston would bring a very strong
team. Unfortunately, the attitude of our players was very negative from the start and we had lost
the game in our heads before we had kicked off.

Sure enough, very soon after the kickoff, Ilkeston opened up the scoring as we forgot how to defend. We also had difficulty in remembering how to pass and catch and so the game became a very one-sided affair as Ilkeston ran in many unanswered
tries.

We did manage 1 consolation try in the second half when we managed to steel possession in their 22 and go over unopposed but that (as well as the actions of a very frustrated referee) provided the only bit of light relief to our supporting parents from what was a difficult morning.

The one player who stood out this morning for staying positive throughout the game and backing up that positivity with some great defensive work was Josh Ingram and so he won the Player of the Match.
